Meet the Creator…

Bailey Jeremie, creator of the podcast Mind Over Melanin is determined to empower and inform the people of how being black and brown in America can impact you psychologically.  Bailey has embraced the journey of helping individuals impacted by trauma through her work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  She has worked with families, couples, and individuals to address an array of life obstacles including depression, anxiety, domestic violence, incarceration, unemployment, child abuse and neglect, and racism.  Mind Over Melanin will walk you through the issues, the numbers, the impact, potential solutions, and often a call to action.

Bailey’s ultimate goal for Mind Over Melanin is to provide free therapy, promote healing and liberate a community that is often overlooked and undermined. She prioritizes forging relationships with various nonprofit organizations and public officials whose missions are aligned with empowering and advocating for the community. Bailey currently serves as the founder and therapist of Black Wellness initiative and a Consultant for non-profits throughout Harlem. She formerly served as the Executive Director for Families United for Solutions, Director of Learning and Development at CASES, as a Multisystemic Therapy Supervisor for a NYC non-profit, Fundraiser Director for Campaign of NYS Assembly Candidate Raynor and Production Coordinator for Soul Cinema events through Imagenation. She has made appearances on several media outlets as a Mental Health Expert and social justice advocate including Harlem 411 radio show on WHCR 90.3, Now We Rise TV Program with Host James Litkett Spectrum Channel 67, The Chili Most Show on WVFG 107.5 in Uniontown, AL, Assembly Update with NYS Assemblywoman Taylor Darling through NYS Public Access, The Ed Talks Podcast and Sistah Talk TV Program. She has served on various platforms as a public speaker and mental health provider such as Touro College for the Community Empowerment Series sponsored by FUSS, The Annual Youth Survival Summit by Circle of Brothers and FUSS, Harlem Holistic Wellness Week, HCCI’s Annual Harlem Revive! Health & Job Fair, and Movie Night Under The Stars with Councilman Bill Perkins.

Meet the Intern…

Nia Moore is currently a junior at the York Preparatory School and an intern for the Mind Over Melanin podcast. Nia has always had an interest in journalism so helping to inform listeners about misunderstood and misrepresented topics concerning her community is the perfect way for her to cultivate her love for journalism and social justice. Along with being the assistant editor of her school’s literary magazine, her “Mind over Melanin” internship responsibilities include managing social media, editing the monthly newsletter and coordinating Mind Over Melanin’s various social media platforms, which include Instagram and Twitter. She aspires to one day become a journalist and is confident that this experience will help bring a strong foundation for her future career!
